Mike Baird Has A New Job With One Of Australia’s Biggest Banks
Well that didn't take long.
When former NSW premier Mike Baird announced his surprise resignation last month he cited his desire to spend more time with his family as a key reason for quitting politics.
But a lot of people weren’t impressed with the fact he was pulling the plug after just three years in office.
M8 why you tearing up about a job you've had for 3 years? I spent longer at Pizza Hutt, I just had some potato gems & got on with it

Today it’s been announced that Baird is taking up a new position at National Australia Bank, one of the “big four” financial institutions in the country.

According to NAB, Baird is jumping on board the executive team as the Chief Customer Officer, Corporate and Institutional Banking. I have no idea what that job involves, but it sounds like some sort of trumped up customer service role for NAB’s big corporate clients, which is pretty fitting considering Baird had a reputation for being at the beck and call of the big end of town.
It’s not the first time a former NSW premier has gone into the banking sector. In 2005 former premier Bob Carr took up a $500,000 role at Macquarie Bank in its investment division. Baird’s move isn’t that surprising given he used to work at NAB before entering politics.
But the fact that yet another politician has seamlessly glided from a public role into a corporate gig in just a month is pretty likely to make voters even more cynical about the state of politics.
