Men Are Genuinely Trying To Claim That Women-Only Gyms Are “Segregation”

"Not the men being pressed they can't harass women anymore."

Earlier this month, Heather Huesman uploaded an innocent TikTok to praise the “women-only” gym she attends.

While Kansas-based Blush Fitness has some features that are common in most modern gyms, like 24/7 access with a pass, Huesman made sure to point out the things that made Blush extra special in her video.

With features like tinted windows so that men walking by can’t see women inside working out, free tampons and pads in the bathrooms, and notice for when male staff will be present, it was no surprise the TikTok went viral.

“The BEST GYM! We need these everywhere, we feel so safe and comfortable going to the gym, gonna be my new favourite spot!” Huesman’s caption read.

Chatting to BuzzFeed, Heather Huesman explained that she decided to share the video because “it felt like a breath of fresh air” when she walked into a gym that had no men in it for the first time — and a lot of women in the comments agreed with the 23-year-old hostess.

Beyond the obvious benefits of not having men stare down them while they work out in tight clothes, women shared that they would “feel way less judged and more comfortable asking for help” in a solely female space.

Others noted that women-only gyms like Blush are also a wonderful option for muslim women, who are discouraged from working out around men for modesty reasons.

But like with anything made for women, men have found serious issue with something that has been branded “women-only”.

Some men are so upset that a gym was created for the sole purpose of making sure women feel comfortable and safe, that they are calling the move “segregation” and claiming that the world is now “going backwards in time”. Yes, seriously.

“This doesn’t sound like equality,” sooked one man. “Ain’t we stop segregation like 60 years ago,” added another. “Segregation at its finest,” more men chimed in.

“Isn’t this discrimination? I mean I don’t care but wouldn’t that be considered it?” asked someone else, who very clearly cared. “Literally illegal but sure.”

In response, women obviously laughed at how ridiculous all the claims of “segregation” and “discrimination” were — especially when things like gentleman’s clubs, men-only country clubs, and things as simple as gendered bathrooms and all-boys schools exist in the world.

“Not the men being pressed they can’t harass women anymore,” one woman said. “Y’all ain’t rocking with women feeling safe?!”

“Men just really wanna be oppressed. Why y’all mad we want to feel safe when working out?” added another.

But regardless of what men think, the women of the world are still happy that women-only gyms exist so they have somewhere they can safely and happily workout in peace.

And for the men who are still mad and shouting about equality, one woman under Heather Huesman’s TikTok put it perfectly: “To the lil boys that are mad: you made this happen.”
