Hey Melbourne, This Is Why Your Trains Are Messed Up Today
The transport system is on fire again (literally).
Melbourne’s train system is on fire again today, unfortunately in a literal sense. In the middle of the peak hour rush this morning, electrical sparks started shooting out of a train’s power line connection, forcing passengers to evacuate and sparking big delays.
@metrotrains I think your trains need servicing if this in happening cc @9NewsMelb pic.twitter.com/d9PFZz8f3W

No one was injured, and Metro Trains are saying the sparks did not cause a danger to passengers. The power incident has suspended trains on the Sandringham line though, leading to scenes like this:
anyone else's train lose power & stop near Flinders St or just my dumb luck? #metrotrains @metrotrains #metrofail pic.twitter.com/UOnZtq984d

Luckily, Melbourne commuters are so used to this bullshit they already have a hashtag (it’s #metrofail, and it’s almost always going off). Angry tweets won’t get you to work on time, though. Metro Trains have advised that replacement buses are running, but there’s no word yet on when trains will be back.
