Megan Thee Stallion & Cardi B’s ‘WAP’ Grammy Performance Was Simply Too Good For This World
One of the best Grammy performances of all time.
It was always going to be one of the biggest moments of the night: Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion performing 2020’s biggest track, ‘WAP‘.
But even with expectations set squarely at sky-high levels, the two artists still managed to knock everyone clean off their feet. It was a total visual mindfuck — Cardi appeared in front of a constantly shifting vaporwave greenscreen background to burn through a bit of her new single ‘Up’, before descending to spin on the heel of a gigantic stiletto for ‘WAP’.

Given the conservatism of broadcaster CBS, the lyrics were heavily edited — even the words ‘hard’ and ‘large’ were taken out — which made for a bit of a jarring listen. Curiously though, CBS didn’t seem to mind the pair grinding up on each other while lying on a giant bed.
But it didn’t really matter about the lyrics — this was a complete spectacle from start to finish, and a nice capstone for Megan Thee Stallion, who at the time of writing had picked up three Grammys: Best Rap Song, Best Rap Performance, and Best New Artist.
