RIP Tasty Treats: Luxe Chocolate Chain Max Brenner Has Gone Under
Goodnight, sweet prince.
Goodnight, sweet prince. Upscale chocolate and cafe chain Max Brenner has gone into voluntary administration, with the future of the company’s Australian locations in doubt.

The decision was made on Sunday, with company directors citing rising costs and sluggish retail trade as the reason for the dramatic action. Administrators McGrathNicol will conduct an “urgent review” of operations and assess the prospect of “completing a going concern sale of the business or a recapitalisation through the Voluntary Administration process”.
The Australian arm of the Israeli-owned franchise boasts 37 stores and around 600 employees. The chain has previously been targeted by demonstrators over its parent company’s purported ties to the Israeli Defence Forces.
McGrathNicol says the business will operate as per usual while the review is completed. So if you’re going to stock up on choccies, best do it quick.
