Please Watch This Year’s ‘MasterChef’ Contestants Parody The Show’s Bonkers Opening Credits
Justice for Courtney.
Late last year, teens parodying the often ridiculous MasterChef Australia opening credits went viral on TikTok.
Any Australian knows that a staple part of MasterChef has always been the weird and wonderful intro videos made for each contestant. Whether it’s juggling eggs or literally kissing a dead fish, each year these credit clips seem to just get more and more bonkers.
As a result, TikTok user @matt_tattsy decided to take the piss out of MasterChef with his own version of the opening titles. Set to Katy Perry’s iconic ‘Hot N Cold’, Matt’s video inspired teens across Australia to create their own baffling contestants doing the most confusing activities they could think of.
The only common thread being, that after each ridiculous task is performed, the cook must look into the camera with a smile, nod or wave as if what they were doing was totally normal kitchen behaviour.
Whether it was chopping right through a raw egg, flipping a packet of uncooked spaghetti, or trying to flatten a carrot with a rolling pin — each new opening credit scene looked as though it could pass for the real thing.
Now, in a stroke of genius, the official @masterchefau TikTok account has recruited Back To Win contestants Courtney and Harry to recreate new opening titles for themselves too.
Featuring freshly-eliminated Season 2 cook Courtney levelling out an overflowing wine glass and Season 8 finalist Harry flipping a pan full of bananas, it’s obvious that this version should replace the credits we currently have for MasterChef: Back To Win.
You can watch ‘MasterChef: Back To Win’ tonight on Channel 10. You can also follow MasterChef on TikTok here.
