Macklemore Emerges From Obscurity To Sing A Duet Of ‘Thrift Shop’ With Oscar The Grouch
Late contender for the next Hottest 100.
After taking out the Hottest 100 with ‘Thrift Shop’ and creating a whole lot of discussion about same-sex marriage with ‘Same Love’, it’s safe to say that Macklemore was the Next Big Thing in late 2012. But for the last couple of years he’s spent his days in relative obscurity. The dude’s only big moment in the public eye consisted of him dressing up in an offensively anti-semitic costume, getting yelled at by Seth Rogen, then acting like nothing ever happened.
Now, he’s re-emerged on Sesame Street.
Performing a PG cover of ‘Thrift Shop’ with Oscar the Grouch and other assorted trash-dwelling creatures, it seems like Macklemore Mucklemore may be re-branding himself to a totally new market. Instead of searing annoyingly catchy tunes into our brains and wading through big topics like marriage equality and white privilege, he’s content with being a dirty pied piper who tells our children to clothe themselves in rubbish.
More power to him.
