At least he wasn't joking about child molestation this time.

Last time Louis CK hosted Saturday Night Live, he found himself at the centre of controversy after joking that molesting children must be “really good” for child molesters to keep doing it despite running the risk of going to prison. The bit divided the internet, with some people arguing that it was inappropriate, and others defending CK’s right to joke about taboo subjects.

At the time, CK quipped that it was probably the last time he would ever be invited onto the show, although as it turns out he needn’t have worried. The stand-up comedian was front and centre in this week’s episode, and anyone who thought he might tone it down after last time wasn’t left labouring under that delusion for very long.

“Here’s a joke,” CK began. “Why did the chicken cross the road? Because a black guy was walking behind him.”

The chicken, CK explains, was new to the city, and unsure whether the black guy was following him. “Maybe if I cross the road, then if he crosses the road, he’s definitely following me,” the chicken thought to himself.

“So he crossed the road,” said CK. “And the black guy went home. He’s living his life.”

Later in the monologue, the comedian launched into an extended bit about white privilege inspired by an argument he had with the housekeeping at a fancy hotel. “It’s wrong that white people get preferential treatment. It’s wrong,” CK said. “But as long as they do, what is going on at this hotel? I’m supposed to get the best!”
