Louis C.K. Has Somehow Won A Grammy, Despite His History Of Sexual Misconduct

American comedian Louis C.K. was awarded a Grammy today, despite his history of sexual misconduct, which first emerged in 2017.
The comedian’s latest stand-up performance Sincerely: Louis C.K. took out the award for Best Comedy Album, besting other nominees, including Kevin Hart and Chelsea Handler.
After years of rumours throughout his career, reporting from the New York Times brought several witness statements from victims who asserted that C.K. masturbated in front of them. C.K. publicly acknowledged the offences in a statement that year, saying that “these stories are true”.
“The hardest regret to live with is what you’ve done to hurt someone else. And I can hardly wrap my head around the scope of hurt I brought on them,” he said.
While C.K. never faced any criminal charges over his numerous accounts of sexual misconduct, which spanned his career since the early ’90s, the comedian returned to stand-up in 2018 after stepping back to “take time to listen”. The comedian drew ire from critics again after seemingly capitalising on the controversy with a 2020 tour, which involved him performing in front of giant ‘Sorry’ sign and selling merchandise emblazoned with the words.

After spending the weekend in an anxious mental health place getting harassed in the hundreds by male louis ck fans on my social media – this is a kick in the c*nt. Everyone hates women. https://t.co/ZkRw0ZOgve

The CEO responsible for the Grammys, Harvey Mason Jr told journalists last year that the organisation wouldn’t “restrict the people who can submit their material for consideration”.
“We won’t look back at people’s history, we won’t look at their criminal record, we won’t look at anything other than the legality within our rules of, is this recording for this work eligible based on date and other criteria. If it is, they can submit for consideration,” Mason told TheWrap.
