Louis CK will release his next two comedy specials via Netflix, with the first one due to hit the streaming service in April.
Netflix’s deal with CK is the latest in a recent string of high profile comedic signings. The service will pay Dave Chappelle a reported $60 million to release three previously unseen specials. They’ve also inked deals with Chris Rock, Amy Schumer, Sarah Silverman and Jerry Seinfeld.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the first of CK’s two specials, titled 2017, will premiere globally on April 4.
“Louis has been one of the most innovative comedy voices in this new era of stand-up,” said Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos in a statement. “We have marveled at his creativity and his ability to invent comedically and commercially, and are thrilled that he is bringing his newest specials to Netflix.”
