Lorde’s New Single ‘Perfect Places’ Is The Most Perfectly Teenage Song Ever
Everybody loves Lorde. Her combination of dream-pop music and heartbreakingly human lyrics appeal to everyone from South Park to Grammy judges to that cashier she’s taking to this weekend’s Governor Ball.
Having said that, Lorde’s newest banger ‘Perfect Places,’ is aimed at one particular audience in that it is, bar none, the most teenage song ever.
‘Perfect Places’ is the third single to be released from Lorde’s upcoming album Melodrama, out June 16. It follows ‘Green Light’ and ‘Liability’ and, as the album’s closing track, it acts as a denouement to the “last two wild, fluorescent years of her life”.
For context, here’s what she said about ‘Green Light,’ which was a similarly catchy/sad/fun/angry expression of adolescence.
i am so proud of this song. it's very different, and kinda unexpected. it's complex and funny and sad and joyous and it'll make you DANCE

it's the first chapter of a story i'm gonna tell you, the story of the last 2 wild, fluorescent years of my life. this is where we begin

Give ‘Perfect Places’ a listen or two (or three or four etc etc) below, and think back to those sweet, ridiculous teenage D&Ms.
