If we’ve learned one thing this year, it’s that Lorde fucking loves a good cover.

Over the last few months we’ve heard her take on Martha Wainwright’s ‘Bloody Mother Fucking Asshole‘, The 1975’s ‘Somebody Else‘, Paul Simon’s ‘Me And Julio Down By the Schoolyard‘ and — how could we forget — Phil Collins’ iconic 1981 ‘In The Air Tonight‘.

Her latest cover is just as perfectly-suited. On stage in Christchurch last night, Lorde took on Bruce Springsteen’s 1984 hit ‘I’m On Fire’, twisting it into her Pure Heroine track ‘440 Lux’.

“We worked it out at soundcheck today,” she said by way of introduction. “So it’s something of an experiment. This is a song I love a lot. I heard it at the very start of writing this album, Joel Little [producer] played it to me. It’s a special one.”

Lorde will bring her Melodrama tour to Australia in just over a week, hitting up venues in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, and Brisbane. She’s also locked in as the headliner for Canberra’s Spilt Milk Festival.

Here’s hoping she throws in some more covers while she’s here — watch her Springsteen cover below.
