Look At The Trailer For The New Vince Vaughn And Owen Wilson Movie
It's called The Internship, and all the jokes sound like our parents when they talk about the Internet.
Besides that zeitgeist-y 1998 bright spot You’ve Got Mail, we’re hard-pressed to think of many movies capturing the old-person’s technological experience (which, based on our parents, would basically be middle-aged mums and dads replying with “ok” to every text message they receive). Thankfully, along comes the new flick The Internship, which sees ol’ Wedding Crashers alumni Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson teaming up again to play a couple of old tech salesmen who get ironically laid off by the digital revolution (personified by John Goodman), and attempt to rejuvenate their careers by finagling themselves a couple of internships at Google.
As others have noted, on first impressions the premise comes across as a feature-length ad for Google (maybe Vaughn own shares in the tech giant?). But the brand new trailer released by 20th Century Fox this morning offers a better look at the flick, which sees the guys using Google’s funhouse reputation as an opportunity to poke fun at today’s changing workplace: you know, start-up offices full of ping-pong tables, free lunches, firemen poles, and slippery dips.
Due out in cinemas on June 13, the film also features our very own Rose Byrne, some Patrick Stewart/X-Men humour for the nerds, and a screenplay co-written by Vince Vaughn himself, so hopefully we can anticipate a monologue this great in it (sigh, this Vince Vaughn was worth $18 or whatever movies cost these days):
