A New ‘Loki’ Promo Just Confirmed That The God Of Mischief Is Genderfluid
Here's hoping the series has some gender-bending mischief in store!
We are a mere two days out from Loki premiering on Disney+ and an Instagram promo for the series has confirmed that the God of Mischief himself is genderfluid.
The confirmation came in a blink-and-you-might-miss-it detail on a graphic shared on Twitter and Instagram. In the graphic, we see Loki’s Time Variance Authority (TVA) personal file. If you zoom in on the ‘sex’ section of the file you will see the word ‘fluid’.
SEX : FLUID OMG?❤️

The History Of Loki And Gender
This should come as no surprise to fans of the MCU, the Marvel comics, or Norse mythology — in all three Loki is a shapeshifter who manipulates himself and others into the form of various genders at various points.
In Thor: The Dark World he hilariously transforms Thor (Chris Hemsworth) into the Lady Sif. Meanwhile, in the comics, Loki assumed the form of a woman for a 2008 run written by J. Michael Straczynski, Marko Djurdjevic, and Olivier Coipel for their Thor series. Lady Loki, as she came to be known, was the main version of the God of Mischief throughout the Dark Reign comics, as well as in the Loki: Where Mischief Lies novel by Mackenzi Lee.
Before anyone starts complaining, the earliest appearance I could find of gender-fluid Loki in the comics is 2004, and even then Lady Loki apparently appeared in something in the 1940s
This isn’t new, fully expected, and I’ll show you the door. pic.twitter.com/LEoiJMWyoQ

#Loki was gender fluid and pansexual in the comics as his reinvention of an antihero. Now MCU has integrated the identity as well for the Disney+ series.

In Norse mythology, he regularly assumes the form of women to manipulate people, including posing as Thor’s lovers to prank and humiliate him. (But yeah, maybe don’t think too much about that.)
Will the series finally see Tim Hiddleston’s Loki shapeshift into more feminine forms to maximise their mischief? One can only hope! We’ll have to wait a few more days to find out.
#Loki has hands down my favorite first TV episode for Marvel Studios yet.
Tom Hiddleston is just too good in the role, picking up 2012’s Loki instantly. He’s brilliant.
Early exposition comes with awesome details for MCU fans. I really like the start. Lots of potential here! pic.twitter.com/wY6HiYzGHC

Hopefully, this isn’t another instance of Disney teasing LGBT-related content only to disappoint some LGBT fans. It’s also worth noting — as some trans fans have already pointed out — that sex does not equate to gender.
o k a y so uh that thing that was posted? It said sex, not gender. If it said gender: fluid then that would have been confirming that Loki is genderfluid. That said sex: fluid which simply means Loki can shapeshift. sex ≠ gender.
