All Your Favourite Artists Are Live Streaming Sets To Help You Through Self-Isolation
From Charli XCX to Death Cab For Cutie to Miley Cyrus.
The coronavirus pandemic has completely overhauled how we think about “live” music.
After all, the Australian touring industry has been decimated. With the directive from the government limiting the sizes of crowds in both indoors and outdoors venues, every major festival on the calendar has been scrapped. International and national tours have been shut down. Gigs from the very small to the very big have fallen through.
But we are nothing if not an adaptable species, and out of that death, new life has sprung. “Live” music might not be the same, but it isn’t gone. In fact, some of the biggest musicians on the planet are streaming performances right now, hit-packed sets that you can stream from the comfort of your living room.
There are dozens of musicians who have decided to stream. Neil Young is playing some intimate ‘Fireside Sessions’ on his website; Chris Martin is performing acoustic concerts from his home; Pink did a one-off gig on her Instagram; and Keith Urban played song after song for his fans on his social media.
But that’s not all. Here are some of the biggest ones.
Rufus Wainwright
Each morning, beloved musician Rufus Wainwright will perform a song for his captive audience of fans on Instagram, dressed in his beloved fluffy robe.
Watch the first of such performances here, his version of his song ‘Grey Gardens’, and then tune in each day for more.

Room 2 Radio
Room 2 Radio is the brainchild of a bunch of club-lovers who are looking to bring the club experience right into living rooms around the country.
Touted as the country’s first “digital club”, Room 2 will see DJs stream upbeat sets from 8pm till late this Friday March 20. For more information, hit up the event page on Facebook right here.
Charli XCX
Pop hero Charli XCX is set to perform a daily Instagram live stream with a veritable army of her famous friends in tow.
These daily events will feature everyone from Christine Letissier from French pop heavy-hitters Christine and The Queens, Diplo, and Kim Petras.

Not always musical in nature, the daily streams will include fitness activities, life advice, and interactive games. Think of it as a hang-out with your mate Charli. Head to her Instagram for more.
Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus was forced to cancel her charitable Australian tour with fellow hero Lil Nas X. But Aussie Cyrus fans shouldn’t entirely despair — Cyrus too is taking to her Instagram for a live-streamed music event. Her show’s called ‘Bright Minded’, and it’ll be going down on social media each weekday.
The second episode featured Demi Lovato, and was wholesome as hell. You can watch it on Youtube, and follow Cyrus on Instagram.
Ben Gibbard
Benjamin Gibbard of Death Cab For Cutie has been streaming a series of intimate concerts that he’s calling ‘Live From Home’. They’ve been going out via YouTube live, and Gibbard’s been taking requests during them.
Better yet, the concerts are available to watch in their entirety on Youtube after they’re done streaming, so you can return to them time and time again.
