An embarrassed lion has gone viral after accidentally rocking a mullet in a Chinese Zoo.
It turns out bad hair days aren’t just for humans, as Hang Hang the white lion learnt the hard way after his mane was exposed to humid weather in Guangzhou, near the Pearl River.

Last Saturday, Hang Hang tried to smooth his mane down by licking his fur in a futile attempt to bring the frizz under control, but ended up with a bowl cut and bangs instead.
“He’s the most beautiful boy here now, and more people are coming to see him,” said his caretaker to Viral Press.
Photos of the big cat quickly started to circulate, and Guangzhou Zoo staff were accused of chopping the style intentionally — which they denied. People on Twitter even drew parallels to Claire’s pencil haircut in Fleabag, American footballer Mark Davis, and Will from Stranger Things.
“The hairstyle was purely nature’s magic,” said a spokesperson. “We wouldn’t dare cut the lion’s hair. He looked like a blonde supermodel with fringe because of the high humidity in Guangzhou.”
The year has proven hotter than usual in China, with reported temperatures of over 30 degrees during May, as the country enters summer. Manes do change overtime in colour and length, while also offering insight to a lion’s health and wellbeing, according to Newsweek, who reported that sometimes they even form a natural fringe.
