Some Genius Has Made A ‘Lee Carvallo’s Putting Challenge’ Game That You Can Actually Play
You have selected: POWER DRIVE.
All real Simpsons fans know about the thrilling Lee Carvallo’s Putting Challenge video game.
The pixelated golf simulation game was featured in the 1995 episode titled ‘Marge Be Not Proud’, (Number 19 on Junkee’s list of greatest Simpsons episodes, if you’re wondering) where Bart got in trouble for shoplifting a copy of the violent and expensive game Bonestorm because Marge wouldn’t buy it for Christmas.
The episode focuses on Bart becoming estranged from his mum after getting caught stealing the game. Bart then spends the entire time trying to win back her trust and, in return, Marge gives Bart a copy of the entirely underwhelming and painfully lame Lee Carvallo’s Putting Challenge as an early gift.
As the credits roll, we get a glimpse of what the iconic putting game looks like in action.
And now, in a bit of quarantine fun, Canadian developer Aaron Demeter has recreated the game for Simpsons fans to actually play online. The playable online version is so perfect that it was even endorsed by Bill Oakley, the show’s executive producer, on Twitter.

While Lee Carvallo’s Putting Challenge is no Bonestorm, Demeter does give you all the playing options that the original has — including the thrilling choice between a 3-wood or putter and the option to hit your ball with a feather touch or POWER DRIVE (the only logical choice).
Of course, like Bart, you’ll need to enter a three digit code to swing, but all your extremely minimal effort is worth it to watch 8-bit Lee Carvallo make his little golf ball fly. Beautiful stuff, really.
