Lady Gaga Releases A New Film Clip, Resurrects Jesus, Michael Jackson, Hermaphrodite Rumours
"Lady Gaga is a GUY" is now trending on Twitter, because of course it is.
Over the weekend, Lady Gaga released another new film clip, for the new single off her latest LP, Artpop.
Because the song is called ‘G.U.Y’ (it stands for ‘girl under you’), and because Gaga is a queen of trolling (writing “I wanna be that guy” into a chorus? Exactly the kind of thing you’d do to resurrect some long-lost hermaphrodite rumours), her monsters did a whole lot of this kind of thing to get it trending on Twitter:
Can we trend ‘Lady Gaga Is A GUY’ when VEVO releases the G.U.Y. video? It’s clever marketing.

The film clip, which is close to 12 minutes (including four whole minutes of credits), opens with a winged Gaga being shot down by a group of men in suits, as ‘Artpop’ plays in the background. Stumbling through the dust and collapsing, wing broken, at the foot of a giant castle, she’s carried around a giant pool as the cast of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills mime along to ‘Venus’, for some reason.
Gaga is dunked into the water and then reborn, as Andy Cohen — playing Himeros or Zeus or some other Greek god — winks from the clouds. Then film clip to ‘G.U.Y’ begins, and is somehow even more ridiculous than everything that came before it.
Enjoy.
