A Stack Of Aussie Musos Lovingly Covered ‘From Little Things Big Things Grow’
Electric Fields, Missy Higgins, and more featured on the goosebump-inducing cover.
Last night, ABC’s live music show The Sound officially wrapped up its first season.
It’s been a wonderful watch, with artists such as Amy Shark, BENEE, DMA’s, Miiesha, Kate Miller-Heidke, and many more delivering standout performances from stunning locations — such as the empty and haunting interiors of the Sydney Opera House, Hamer Hall, or Espy Hotel, or Queensland’s Capricorn Caves.
Last night was no different, Guy Sebastian played inside an eerie Sydney Town Hall, its floor littered with candles, while Bliss N Eso performed at the top of the Sydney Tower Eye, a casual 268 metres above the ground.
The most special song, though, was saved for the very end, when Adelaide duo Electric Fields paid tribute to Australian greats Kev Carmody and Paul Kelly with a cover of ‘From Little Things Big Things Grow’, which features on the new Carmody tribute album Cannot Buy My Soul.
Surrounded by lush forest, they were joined by Missy Higgins, Jess Mauboy, and John Butler (beamed in from their respective homes of course) for the track, which they sung, in part, in Pitjantjatjara language. It also features snippets of the voice of Vincent Lingiari, the man at the heart of the song.
