Watch Keanu Reeves Hang Out With Death Himself (Again) In The First Trailer For ‘Bill & Ted 3’
Excellent!
Given it’s been 28 long years since we last heard from Bill & Ted, you would have been forgiven for thinking the Keanu Reeves-led franchise was done and dusted.
The first film in the franchise, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, was a box office smash back in 1989, changing the shape of American comedy and independent film. Oh, and without it, Keanu Reeves as a modern box office hero might not exist — no Ted means no John Wick.
Given the success of that first film, it was only natural that a sequel would be released, dropped a mere two years later. But then: silence. Decades, and decades of silence. Reeves went on to become the internet’s best friend; Alex Winter, the actor who plays Bill, went on to write a book and direct some movies of his own. But the Bill and Ted franchise seemed over.
Then, out of nowhere and against the odds — Bill & Ted Face The Music.
Co-written by Ed Solomon, the originator of the comedy franchise, and starring Reeves and Winter, the third film follows the two stoner compadres as they warp into their own future in order to steal a song from themselves and impress their two young daughters.
Basically, as the trailer makes clear, it’s exactly the kind of ridiculous serve of cheese that we’ve all been waiting for, complete with cameo appearances from death and super buff versions of Bill and Ted themselves.
Looks ridiculous. We can’t wait.
