‘Get Out’ Director Jordan Peele Is Making A New Thriller And It Sounds Fucking Great
Keen.
How the hell do you follow Get Out? That’s the question Jordan Peele must be asking himself, after his razor sharp social horror film became one of the most talked-about movies of last year. But based on what we know so far about his forthcoming sophomore effort, he might just be set to top it.
So what do we know about Peele’s next film? According to the man himself, it’ll be tonally similar to Get Out — but will tackle a very different social issue.
“Playing around with the thriller, horror, action, fun genre of intrigue is my favorite,” Peele told Loyola Marymount University’s School of Film and TV back in February.
“That’s my sweet spot. So I think tonally it should resemble Get Out. That said, I want to make a completely different movie. I want to address something different than race in the next one.”
Universal, who will be releasing the film, have described it as an “original and provocative thriller”.
When it comes to casting, Peele is shooting for the stars. Variety has reported that Lupita Nyong’o is in talks to star in the film, while her Black Panther co-star Winston Duke and A Handmaid’s Tale star Elisabeth Moss are also being eyed for major roles.
Finally, on Wednesday Peele unveiled a teaser poster confirming that the film will be titled Us and is due to hit cinemas in March 2019.

Of course this isn’t the only project Peele is currently working on. He recently co-created the comedy series The Last O.G., and is executive producing both a reboot of The Twilight Zone and an HBO adaptation of the Jim Crow era-set fantasy horror novel Lovecraft Country.
He’s also apparently has plans for a number of other features, having told Business Insider last year that there were “four other social thrillers that I want to unveil in the next decade”.
