Finally. Just the brooding, alcoholic, womanising ad man Nickelodeon's been missing.

After narrowly missing out for the past eight years, Jon Hamm finally took home an Emmy last week for his portrayal as Don Draper on Mad Men. It was a fitting farewell for the iconic character which he wrapped up in the show’s finale earlier in the year, and a well-deserved victory for Hamm himself. With sophistication, charm and emotional complexity, Hamm had expertly made a brooding, alcoholic and womanising Korean War vet one of the most beloved men on television.

Now, to continue this legacy of prestige television, Hamm is reinventing the character on a PG Nickelodeon cartoon. Kind of. In an upcoming episode of SpongeBob SquarePants, the award-winning actor will portray a “charismatic head ad executive of the ad agency Grouper, Goby and Koi”. Though details are still pretty thin, Nickelodeon have announced Hamm’s character will be helping Mr Krabs launch a new line of frozen Krabbie Patties, his name is Don Grouper, and he’ll look a little something like this:

Hello, ladies.

SpongeBob SquarePants is no stranger to these kind of cameos with previous guest stars including Andy Samberg, Kristen Wiig, Amy Poehler, Johnny Depp and Will Ferrell. But — as their lawyers would probably like us to state — any resemblance Hamm’s new character may have to AMC’s Don Draper is totally coincidental.

Don Grouper is just your average sea bass with “a sharp mind and devastating charm”. Don Grouper just happens to occasionally rock Brooks Brothers suits and land major ad deals. Don Grouper has never even heard of Dick Whitman. Don Grouper has no time for these questions, please move along thanks, nothing to see here.

Uncanny.
