On the latest episode of Last Week Tonight, John Oliver took a look at the UK general election and what it would mean for the future of Brexit. Then he wheeled out a guy with a bucket on his head. And not just any guy with a bucket on his head. The guy with a bucket on his head.

I’m talking, of course, about Lord Buckethead, the intergalactic space lord and actual candidate who ran in the same seat as Theresa May on a platform of free bikes for everyone and a plan to nationalise Adele. The cape-and-bucket-wearing tyrant captured 249 votes, which is simultaneously far too many and not nearly enough.

His lordship also has some strong opinions about Brexit. He recently told a group of voters that the negotiations with Europe were going to be “a shit show” – which according to Oliver, makes him a perfect person to take care of them.

“Instead of sending a career negotiator, why not send someone that there is no way they would expect?,” suggested the comedian. “I’m talking about someone bold. Unafraid to call it how it is. Someone with a firm, leather-clad grasp of the issues. Someone with a bucket list of demands and an honest, slightly muffled voiced.”

And yes, they got the actual Lord Buckethead. “Could we have just made a similar costume and put an intern in it?” asked Oliver. “Yes…shit, we could have done that, that’s a good point. But we didn’t.”

All hail Lord Buckethead. His time has come.
