Please Enjoy This Game Show Contestant Getting Totally Wrecked For Liking “Loser” Music
Host Alex Trebek didn't hold back.
It’s a fraught experience, going on American quiz show Jeopardy. The stakes are high, there’s money to be made, and it gets damn hot under those lights.
But spare a thought for the Jeopardy contestant who had a trickier experience than most, when beloved host Alex Trebek quizzed her on her favourite genre of music.
See, throughout each episode of Jeopardy, Trebek will saunter over to the contestants and ask them a few quick questions. When he grilled contestant Susan Cole back in 2016, it was about her love of “nerdcore hip hop” — and he didn’t hold back.
Introducing nerdcore as a genre that “doesn’t sound fun”, Trebek trained his steely gaze on Susan as she mumbled through a description of the style’s attractions.
“It’s people who identify as nerdy, rapping about video games, science fiction, having a hard time meeting romantic partners,” Susan managed.
“Losers, in other words,” Trebek shot back.

Unfortunately, nerdcore does in fact have a long and storied history. Way back in 2000, MC Frontalot put the phrase to tape with his song ‘Nerdcore Hip Hop’ — since then, the torch has been taken up by such trend-setters as Jesse Dangerously, and Commodore 64, a supergroup with a Wikipedia page that sadly notes that they have “not been signed to any major label”.
Still, no matter what your thoughts are on nerdcore, spare a moment for poor Susan, the only contestant to get totally wrecked by Alex Trebek.
