Jennifer Lawrence Suggested Someone “Drop A Boob” During Ellen’s Epic Oscars Selfie
Someone transcribed all the insane celebrity banter that we missed during the special moment. This picture could've been so different.
By now we’re all aware that Ellen’s epic selfie at Monday’s Academy Awards broke the internet, became the most retweeted photo of all time, and is still leading to countless parodies from your friends and acquaintances who are hilariously slow at getting around to social media phenomenon.
Besides the value posited to Samsung, advertising sponsors of the telecast whose smartphone Ellen was conveniently using (the Wall Street Journal notes that “during rehearsals, Samsung executives trained Ms. DeGeneres on how to use the Samsung Galaxy…” — there goes your improv bit), the photo’s instantly become a pop culture artifact, like those celeb-filled Warhol snaps you see from Studio 54 from the ’70s (except, you know, featuring Lupita Nyong’o’s brother) or that painting of dogs playing poker (I don’t know).
Amidst the craziness of the moment, though, we all missed much of the casual celebrity banter that was buzzing around the auditorium. Thankfully, the folks at Yahoo went back and transcribed the moments leading up to the scene, and of course Jennifer Lawrence won the whole thing.
Lawrence: “Somebody should drop a boob if we want this retweeted this many times.”
DeGeneres: “Meryl…”
Channing Tatum: “Drop a boob. Somebody drop a boob.”
DeGeneres: “Meryl. Meryl…”
Streep: “Want me to do it?”
Cooper: “Here, I’ll do it.”
DeGeneres: “No Meryl. Can you take it Meryl?”
Tatum: “I’ll drop a boob. It’s fine, I swear.”
Roberts: “What does that mean, drop a boob?”
Pfft, come on, Julia Roberts, don’t be that person.
