“This Situation Does Not Affect Me”: Jamie Lynn Spears Breaks Silence On #FreeBritney
“I don’t care if she wants to run away to the rainforest and have a zillion babies in the middle of nowhere."

Jamie Lynn Spears has thrown her support behind sister Britney Spears following the singer’s harrowing statement in court last Friday regarding her conservatorship.
Britney Spears spoke for 20 minutes in a Los Angeles court last week, saying she was “traumatised” by the situation and she just wants her life back. “I’ve lied and told the whole world I’m OK and I’m happy. It’s a lie,” Spears admitted. “I’ve been in denial. I’ve been in shock. I am traumatised. Fake it ’til you make it, but now I’m telling you the truth, OK? I’m not happy. I can’t sleep. I’m depressed. I cry every day.
“All I want is to own my money, for this to end, and my boyfriend to drive me in his fucking car.”
In a series of Instagram stories posted yesterday, her younger sister Jamie Lynn said she hadn’t felt it was her place to speak publicly on the issue until Britney had done so. Since Britney’s statement in court, Jamie Lynn had come under fire on social media for seemingly not publicly supporting her sister. (Even after her statement, some remain unconvinced.)
“The only reason I haven’t [spoken] before is because I felt like until my sister was able to speak for herself and say what she felt she needed to say publicly, that it wasn’t my place and it wasn’t the right thing to do,” she started. “But now that she’s very clearly spoken and said what she needed to say, I feel like I can follow her lead and say what I feel like I need to say.”
“I think it’s extremely clear since the day I was born I’ve only loved, adored, and supported my sister… I have nothing to gain or lose… This situation does not affect me.”
She went on to defend herself against public backlash about her silence on the issue — saying that while she may have not publicly posted “a hashtag on a public platform”, she had supported her sister long before there was public interest, and she’ll support her “long after”.
“Not that I owe the public anything because my sister knows I love and support her, and that’s the only person I owe anything to. I’m not my family I am my own person, I’m speaking for myself,” she said.
Jamie Lynn said she was happy Britney had requested new legal representation — adding that she had advised her to do that “years ago”. “Not on a public platform but just in a personal conversation between two sisters,” she asserted.
“I don’t care if she wants to run away to the rainforest and have a zillion babies in the middle of nowhere, or if she wants to come back and dominate the world the way she has so many times before,” she continued. “I have nothing to gain or lose either way. This situation does not affect me either way because I am only her sister who is only concerned about her happiness.
“If ending the conservatorship is flying to Mars or whatever the hell else she wants to do to be happy, I support that, 100 percent,” she finished. “Because I support my sister. I love my sister, always have, always will, as long as she’s happy. So let’s keep praying.”
