Ja’mie, Jaymes Diaz (Kinda), And Rhonda From Those AAMI Ads Were All Nominated For Logies This Morning
The ABC is the clear winner from today's announcement. Tony Abbott's gonna be so pissed.
The nominations for the ‘peer-nominated’ categories at this year’s upcoming Logies Awards were revealed in this morning’s issue of TV Week, and the clear winner so far seems to be Tony Abbott’s dreaded nemesis, the ABC. The public network achieved multiple nominations in each of the major categories, including nods for its hit drama series Redfern Now and Paper Giants: Magazine Wars.
Among the highlights we can look forward to on the night will be a vicious battle for ‘Most Outstanding Actor’ between Chris Lilley (Ja’mie: Private School Girl) and Craig McLachlan (The Doctor Blake Mysteries), and an Offspring-off for ‘Most Outstanding Actress’ between Kat Stewart and last year’s Gold Logie winner, Asher Keddie. Despite an ‘Outstanding Mini Series’ nod for Top Of The Lake, Mad Men star Elisabeth Moss was shunned from the category because she’s just a fake NZ-er and we’re not claiming those yet.
Other notable stories include a ridiculous ‘Light Entertainment’ snub for ratings juggernaut MKR, a ‘Most Outstanding Actress’ nod for Rhonda from those AAMI commercials, and an ‘Outstanding News Coverage’ nomination for Ten Eyewitness News for it’s ‘Missing The Boat‘ Jaymes Diaz viral video. I hope there’s a surprise appearance during that acceptance speech.
Nominees in the reader-voted ‘Popular’ categories will be announced closer to the awards date on Sunday, April 27. In the meantime, study the below list, cut them out, and organise a fun sweep with your office-mates, if that’s something that people actually do with the Logies.
