In the latest installment of our ongoing saga to cover the multitudes of the young man as an artist (aka James Franco), comes the newly-released trailer to the actor’s adaptation of William Faulkner’s 1930 classic As I Lay Dying, which is set to have its premiere at the Cannes Film Festival next week.

Written by, directed by and starring The Franco, the film follows the existential tribulations of the Bundren family, and seems to take Faulkner’s own nutso stream-of-consciousness style as an inspiration. Judging from the trailer, the film has Franco himself sporting a slick Southern drawl (not too dissimilar to Spring Breakers‘ Alien, it must be said), a creepy-eyed child narrator (which, we assume is just one amongst the novel’s 14 others), a whole lot of Terrence Malick-style slow motion shots of nature’s quiet rhythms, a horrific rape scene, and Danny McBride in what seems like a surprisingly serious turn for Kenny Powers.

In other Franco news, the New York Post‘s gossip column, ‘Page Six’, reported overnight that the actor was spotted at a New York art fair looking “quite friendly” with Emilia Clarke, better known as Daenerys The Dragon Lady from Game Of Thrones. As we’ve previously noted, the two are currently working together on a steamy new film titled Garden Of Last Days, so they’re obviously just getting into character by sleeping together a lot.

Stay tuned for another inevitable Franco update next week, when we discover that he’s magically pregnant or something.
