Another week, another wholly batcrap-crazy episode of House of the Dragon and once again we’ve got the best memes.

— Warning: There are spoilers ahead. Proceed with caution. —

The episode kicked off with men lined up in droves for Rhaenyra’s hand in marriage. However, she couldn’t be less interested and who could blame her? After an old man and a child pitch Rhaenyra on why they should be the One, Rhaenyra excuses herself from the whole farce. But not before we see 12-year-old Blackwood run a guy through for calling him a cunt. Sadly, the bold move does nothing to sway Rhaenyra who cuts her father’s marriage proposal tour short and heads back, husbandless, to King’s Landing.

Return of the King (Of The Narrow Sea)

Now back in Kings Landing, Rhaenyra arrives just in time to see the triumphant return of her Uncle Daemon. After his victory against the crab man and his army, Daemon amassed loyal supporters who claim him as king of the Narrow Sea. Cocky as ever, Daemon struts in with a bone crown to boot, but assures King Viserys that he remains loyal… for now.

The Besties Are Back, For Better and God, so much worse

At a party to welcome Daemon back to the keep, Alicent and Rhaenyra share their first meaningful conversation in a long time. The two besties had been at odds since Alicent’s dad pushed her to marry Rhaenyra’s dad, but finally admit they’ve missed each other.

Rhaenyra also catches up with her not-at-all-creepy Uncle at the party for the first time in years. As they often do, the pair speak privately in High Valyrian about Rhaenyra’s failed get-a-husband tour and Daemon’s own marriages.

A Night on the Town

I am not going to lie, I really thought that when Daemon met with Rhaenyra incognito at the top of that tower they were gonna go Assassins Creed-ing all over King’s Landing rooftops. Imagine my disappointment when they just went to a puppet show and did some incest in a brothel. House of the Dragon really living up to its predecessor, Game of Thrones, in the incest department.

Alicent’s Married Life

While her bestie was off galavanting with her Uncle, Alicent is being a dutiful wife to King Viserys and… yikes. Years of sitting on the world’s most pointy and uncomfortable chair have left the king with large infected sores all over his body. But, sadly for Alicent, the pain and literal puss of those lacerations don’t affect his libido.

At Least One Sex Scene In This Ep Didn’t Make Me Barf

After Daemon cuts his and Rhaenyra’s, ahem, activities in the brothel short, Rhaenyra is still feeling randy. So, she does what anyone would do in her very specific situation and jumps the bones of her hot knight protector. Honestly, I have no notes. Good for you, Rhaenyra.

XOXO, Hand of the King

Word of Daemon and Rhaenyra’s incestuous night out reaches the Hand of the King. Otto then has the unenviable duty of informing the King that his own brother was seen with his daughter in a brothel. Despite King Viserys’s late wife being his cousin, he’s shocked and accuses Otto of slander. He demands to know the source of the rumour, but Otto refuses to reveal his sources.

Overhearing this, Alicent confronts Rhaenyra about the very true allegations against her and Daemon. Rhaenyra refutes them, lying that Daemon lured her to the brothel, but nothing happened between them.

Meanwhile, Viserys confronts Daemon about the rumour and true to his detestably chaotic character, Daemon brags about his late-night affair with his niece. He even goes so far as to demand Rhaenyra’s hand in marriage. Unsurprisingly, Viserys refuses and banishes his brother from King’s Landing.

Westros’ Very Own Plan B

After King Viserys fires Otto from his position as the hand of the King, the episode ends on a truly nauseating note. Confined to her chambers, Rhaenyra is visited by a Grand Maester who delivers a special tea from the King, promising the tea will rid her of any “unwanted consequences” from her dalliances.

It’s not the first time we’ve seen tea being used to terminate pregnancy in recent media. Marina Thompson drank a similar brew in the first season of Bridgerton.
