Triple j has announced it will begin counting down the Hottest 200 of the Decade from next Tuesday.

Usually the Hottest 200 happens the day after the main count, but for whatever reason the station has decided to bring it forward — meaning we’ll begin to get an idea of how the country has voted in the poll earlier than usual.

Voting for the Hottest 100 closes next Monday at midday, and the songs will be counted down at 10am and 3pm every day from Tuesday onwards — that’s during Lucy Smith’s Mornings show and Hobba and Hing’s slot in the afternoon. Check out the key times and dates below.

The station has also dropped some juicy stats ahead of the poll: we’ll be hearing some songs in the 200 that were near the top of the Hottest 100 in previous years, and we’ll also get some songs that have never made the countdown at all. Over 1.1 million votes have been cast so far — significantly less than the yearly poll — with 84 percent of them being from being under the age of 30, and 54 percent from the 18-24 bracket.

They’ve also flagged that nostalgia has been a big drawcard, with tracks from earlier in the decade doing better than more recent tunes.

There are a few big frontrunners for the Hottest 100 crown: with tracks from Violent Soho, Flume, RÜFÜS DU SOL, Gang of Youths, and Arctic Monkeys all hovering around the pointy end, according to vote aggregator Warm Tunas.
