The Best Memes And Reactions To This Year’s Hottest 100
"Flume ate an entire ass in front of thousands and still didn't get #1."
Well, the Hottest 100 is over for another year, with Billie Eilish’s ‘bad guy’ taking out the top spot. It marks first time a solo female artist has topped the countdown.
This year was the biggest countdown ever — with a staggering 3,211,596 votes counted, a 16.4 percent increase on last year. Sixty-five songs were from Australian artists, just one notch below the record which was set in 2016.
Seventeen artists made their debut this year, and nine artists completed a hat trick — having appeared in the countdown three years running, which is pretty neat.
But the real winners of the day of course, are the meme-makers and internet chucklers — who come out in force to deliver us some triple j-themed comedy gold. So without further fucking around, please enjoy some of our favourite memes and reactions to this year’s poll.

The year is 2030, every song on the #Hottest100 is a like a version version of a like a version from a decade ago. Blue Ivy Carter’s version of Milky Chance’s version of Tones & I’s ‘Dance Monkey’ should’ve been higher.

Peppa pig released one of the most forward thinking pop records last year and I hope that is reflected in the #Hottest100 x

best bit of the #Hottest100 so far is how, now that she’s off-air and doesn’t know what songs are coming next, @lcysmth is sitting in the office shouting “aw yes good one!” every time a new song gets announced. Woman Of The People.
