Junkee Media, Australia’s leading youth publisher, is on the hunt for some great people to join our team based in Surry Hills, Sydney. Junkee Media owns and operates flagship pop culture site Junkee; Gen-Z site Punkee; custom publishing site AWOL; and the Junkee Studio; and was recently named Large Publisher Of The Year at the Mumbrella Publish Awards.

Junkee Media’s funny, smart, ballsy and interesting take on news, film, politics, TV and more has seen it develop a strong following over the years, and 2019 is shaping up to be an exciting time for us. We’re looking for the right people to help take Junkee Media to the next level in our commercial and editorial teams. Here are the jobs we’re hiring for right now:


Account Director

As Account Director you will manage the end-to-end client experience from ideation, budgeting, content creation and execution, delivering on a clear social content calendar for 2019 and beyond.

Focusing primarily on social channels Facebook and Instagram, you will lead a dedicated Account Manager and partnering with a social media expert across your account you will help to drive the internal production and delivery teams to execute the content strategy on time, on budget and to a high level of quality.

Video News Director

Working closely with Junkee’s Publisher and Managing Editor you will be responsible for all video output from Junkee, to ensure that it meets a high quality and quantity KPIs.

As Video News Director you will get to set the tone of Junkee’s visual content, and play an integral part in creating award-winning video content across channels like YouTube with a focus on news/ newsworthy events and moments.

Video Editor

Directly reporting to the Video News Director and working closely with the Junkee editorial team, you will help drive the end-to-end video content generation process from ideation through to publishing and post-production for channels like YouTube.

You will work closely with Junkee’s Publisher & Managing Editor to execute the creative vision for video news on Junkee. Day to day you will be responsible for;

  • Ideating, filming and editing video news
  • Executing the video strategy
  • Managing and delivering across content calendars and video plans on time and on budget
  • Facilitating workshops across social pushes and image selection for video content
  • Briefing in and working closely with the Video News Director to develop, revise and measure content goals
  • Experimenting with styles and techniques including the design of graphic elements

Staff Writer

As Staff Writer you will be responsible for creating written and video content that meets a sufficient level both in terms of quality and quantity as set by the Editors/Managing Editors, Custom & Native, and Consumer.

Directly reporting to 2 Editors (AWOL, Punkee) and the Native Lead, with dotted lines to the Managing Editor, Custom & Native and Managing Editor, Consumer, you will ensure their copy is produced in a timely, appropriate and accurate manner.

Senior Video Producer

As Senior Video Producer you will be responsible for end-to-end project management and collaborations between Junkee Studio and its clients.

You will be required to work on key social media videos and projects to ensure they are of a consistent high quality, are executed flawlessly, on schedule, within budget and exceed all expectations.

Working closely with the Account Managers you will help to ideate, present, deliver and manage each project – big or small – to completion, taking a best-practice approach to financial, operational, and event delivery management; and importantly ensures relationships between internal departments, external agencies or suppliers, and the partners are maintained and enhanced.

The many responsibilities of the Senior Producer span all phases of production and management of resources, from ideation to development stage, Pre-Production process, Production, and Post Production.

They are extremely well organised, with great project management experience, leadership skills, and able to storyboard, co-ordinate shoots and be across the entire production process.

As senior producer you will be expected to liaise with the client, account management, Executive Producer, and Publisher to ensure all deliverables achieved.
