In a cringe-worthingly misguided attempt to cash in on the Spring Breakers phenomenon as it casts its controversial, sexy spell across America, Vanessa Hudgens – who co-starred in the film – has released a 30 second teaser for her new track ‘$$$exx’, a collab with all-girl group Young LA.
Take one part flogging-a-dead-‘Harlem Shake’, one part a misunderstanding of the finer philosophies underpinning Pussy Riot (or, indeed, feminism), and one part an ex-Disney darling’s desperation for edgy legitimacy, mix it up together underneath some phat beats, and you get 30 seconds of actual hell.
“We just wanted to dance and get crazy!” Hudgens pontificated on her brand new Tumblr, where she posted the clip. “You don’t have to go to Spring Break, you can bring Spring Break to youuu! We had ours in the kitchen. LOL! Sooo much fun.”
Which is a shame. She’s actually quite good in the film.
