Haim’s Newest ‘Song’ Is About Accidentally Liking An Instagram Post From 2012
Their most relatable song yet.
Haim are about to release their anticipated third album Women In Music Pt. III, and have dropped a handful of (really, really good) singles in the lead-up. Now, ‘I Liked An Instagram Post’ joins the fray, a sketch with Jimmy Fallon.
Popping up on The Tonight Show to perform their latest song ‘The Steps’, Haim also featured in this song-sketch about ruining your entire life by accidentally liking an Instagram post from 2012. Whatever Fallon feelings you may have aside, it’s quite funny, with the four of them detailing how they’re buying wigs and getting fake passports to survive the embarrassment.
It’s a modern horror story, but naturally, Haim turn it into a sunny-pop anthem. That’s been the case for all four singles from Women In Music Pt. III so far, with each tackling malaise and depression with sleek harmonies and bopping bass lines. From the sound of it so far, it might be their best record yet.
The trio’s performance of ‘The Steps’ is worth a watch too. While it’s nowhere near as involved as their spate of Paul Thomas Anderson-directed music videos, the sisters bring a theatricality (and a lot of smeared lipstick) to the stage. If you’d like to see it in person, you could follow the band around the US this week, where they’ll be playing in various Delis.
Women In Music Pt. III is out April 24, and was co-produced by Danielle Haim, Rostam Batmanglij and Ariel Rechtshaid. Batmanglij appears on-stage for the Fallon performance of ‘The Steps’, playing acoustic guitar.
Unfortunately, the track-list as of yet does not include an extended edition of ‘I Liked An Instagram Post’.
