For the last few years, viral meme, media brand and business mogul Grumpy Cat has been busy diversifying her empire, from publishing to advertising to caffeinated consumables. And now, in the midst of guest appearances at the MTV Movie Awards and The Voice, she has her own film in the works.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Grumpy Cat had signed on for a live action Christmas movie with Lifetime, Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever — the second film deal announced for Tardar Sauce, after a project with Broken Road Productions fell through.

Penned by SpongeBob Square Pants’ Tim Hill and Jeff Morris (I have no idea who Jeff Morris is, or why he deserves to land this illustrious cash cow of a project), Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever will revolve around “a pet-store cat that is perpetually overlooked and the 12-year-old girl who can communicate with her”. The Vice President of Lifetime Originals, Arturo Interian, says the movie will be “a little Home Alone and a little Die Hard”, and will bring some much needed irreverence to the stable of one-woman’s-struggle films for which Lifetime are famous. “We’re so known for our heartfelt sentimentality,” Interian says. “It will poke fun at those stereotypes.”

The studio is currently casting for the voice of Grumpy Cat. I’ll just leave this here.
