Grimes Tells Elon Musk To Turn Off His Phone After He Tweeted ‘Pronouns Suck’

"Your kid’s name is X Æ A-12 but you have an issue with they/them"

Grimes responded to Elon Musk tweeting ‘pronouns suck’ with a Tweet of her own telling him to turn off his phone and call her. 

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Elon Musk has come under fire for saying and Tweeting many terrible opinions. He has downplayed the dangers of coronavirus, called lockdowns ‘fascist’, and has called for the rolling back of measures attempting to stop the spread of the virus. But he has now been scolded in public by his girlfriend and mother of his child, Grimes, after he Tweeted that ‘pronouns suck’. In a now-deleted response, Grimes told him to turn off his phone and contact her.

It’s impossible to say 100% from his Tweet if he means that the push for and growing acceptance of using people’s correct pronouns ‘sucks’, but it is how most people interpreted it. And Grimes’ response makes it more likely that the assumption is correct. It’s not the first time Musk has come under fire from his extended family, with Grimes’ mother subtweeting him earlier this year when he talked about ‘taking the red pill’ soon after Grimes gave birth. The latest incident drew responses from other celebrities.

And other people joined in as well.

Obviously being inclusive is important, and Musk should be called out for saying otherwise, but some wondered why this is the thing that Grimes took a public stance about.

In any case, Elon Musk, if you can call your baby ‘X Æ A-12’, you can handle saying they/them.
