Grill’d Asked Customers To Say “I’m Batman” For Free Chips And Everyone’s Embarrassed
Complimentary chips in exchange for your dignity.
A promotion for The Batman at Grill’d has left both employees and diners feeling intense secondhand embarrassment in its bid to fob off free chippies.
The now-ended partnership between the burger chain and Warner Bros. invited customers to say “I’m Batman” when ordering food in exchange for free snack-sized chips.

But the cringiness of pretending to be Bruce Wayne in front of a Grill’d employee is proving to not be worth the trouble for Australians across the country.
“Grill’d could offer me free food for a year, and I would not say ‘I’m Batman’ to the cashier,” a TikTok user commented about the alleged ‘steal of a deal’.
Even employees are weighing in, telling people online that you can simply show a screenshot of the promo, ask for the free chips outright, or refer to the ‘Batman promotion’ to spare everyone an awkward interaction.
“As a Grill’d employee, we’ve discussed this, and will mock you behind your back if you actually try this,” another TikTok user commented. Youch.

If you missed the three-day window, we’re sorry, but also, congratulations. Extra credit points if you did it and put on the voice. Grill’d you cowards extend the deal and let the people humiliate themselves for longer.
