For a limited time, Rockstar Games is giving away free PC copies of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, so you can cause wanton mayhem and property damage without worrying about actually hurting anyone.

Released in 2004, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas enjoyed widespread critical and commercial success, and is still highly regarded as a landmark in video games.

The open-world action-adventure game follows former gangster CJ after he returns home to Los Santos, a city within San Andreas, and is quickly pulled back into the world of corrupt policemen and warring gangs.

Of course, because it’s an open world game, you don’t necessarily have to follow the plot. You could just drive around the city, ramming cars, robbing houses and pimping your ride.

To grab your free copy of GTA: San Andreas, first you’ll have to head to Rockstar Games’ website to download and install the new Rockstar Games Launcher. If you already have a Social Club account you can log right in, otherwise you need to create one and verify your email address.

Then all you have to do is click on GTA: San Andreas in the sidebar on the left and claim your free game. Download, install, and enjoy endless hours blatantly ignoring road rules and gun safety.

You’ll want to get on the giveaway quickly — it’s only for a limited time, and Rockstar hasn’t given any indication of when it will end.

It’s a pretty good incentive to download the Rockstar Games Launcher, which looks rather bare at the moment. Including Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, there are currently only seven games available for purchase through the client. The other titles are Grand Theft Auto IIIand Vice CityBully: Scholarship EditionMax Payne 3 and L.A. Noire.

You can link L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files to the launcher if you already have it, but you can’t buy the game through its store. Rockstar’s other PC games such as Manhunt and Midnight Club 2 aren’t currently supported, though it isn’t unlikely that they will be added in the future.

The Rockstar Games Launcher offers cloud saves, but still feels like unnecessary computer clutter considering its limited functions. Even so, a free copy of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas definitely makes the download worth it.
