Google Maps Finally Introduces Dragon Travel Option
The new feature is expected to be beta tested in Westeros soon.
Google look to have finally included dragon travel as a transport option in Google Maps. Users have been requesting greater support for the increasingly popular mode of transport for years, but being a big, evil corporation, Google have been studiously ignoring them. Until now, that is.
Mashable spotted the brand-new feature overnight — so far, the feature is only available for journeys between the Welsh peaks of Snowdon and Brecon Beacons, but hopefully that will change soon. Wales, of course, is a noted dragon hotspot, and we assume that Google are just calibrating the accuracy of their travel estimates. Rumours out of Silicon Valley suggest that the option will soon be expanded to all of Wales, before being introduced to Westeros for beta testing. After that? Fingers crossed.
This is not the first time that Google have attempted to move with the times. They tried to incorporate travel by Tardis into Street View a few years ago, but their algorithms couldn’t overcome the bugs caused by the paradoxes of time travel. Similarly, they attempted to extend their coverage into the Shire (no, the other Shire), but users found the directions service to be negative and unhelpful.
Hopefully they get it right this time.
