All The Funniest Reactions To Gladys Berejiklian Resigning As NSW Premier
"Is there a more Australian named scandal than 'Gladys and Daryl'?"
Gladys Berejiklian just announced that she would be stepping away from parliament and resigning as NSW Premier amid an investigation by the NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC).
In a rushed “significant” announcement where Berejiklian took no questions, the NSW Premier confirmed this afternoon the rumours that she would be resigning from her position.
Explaining that she would be stepping aside once the NSW Liberal Party elects a new leader, Berejiklian said she had “no option but to resign” as she did not know “how long this investigation will take”.
Gladys Berejiklian’s decision to step away from her role comes after the ICAC today announced it would be further investigating Operation Keppel on October 18.
In this investigation, the ICAC plans to look deeper into whether Berejiklian’s relationship with former Wagga MP Daryl Maguire was a conflict of interest and breached public trust between 2012 to 2018. This inquiry comes after 7.30 revealed that Berejiklian oversaw a fund that gave $5.5 million grant funding to the Australian Clay Target Association in 2016/17 and to the Riverina Conservatorium of Music in Wagga Wagga in 2018.
But even though the announcement and timing of the Premier’s resignation was a surprise — considering we are three months into a heavy lockdown and at a critical point in the state’s reopening plan — the move itself isn’t actually all that shocking.
And you know what else isn’t surprising in the slightest? The fact that Gladys Berejiklian’s resignation has sparked a number of memes already.
So while we hope and pray that a federal ICAC is formed (lol) and patiently wait to find out who will replace Gladdy (probably Treasurer Dom Perrottet… lol, again), please enjoy these memes about Gladys Berejiklian and her resignation as NSW Premier:
Don't worry about Gladys not taking questions, ICAC will have many.

And now that you’ve had your laughs, please take a moment to think of the poor editors over at The Australian Financial Review Magazine who just published their October issue with Gladys Berejiklian on the front cover. Brutal.
