A Pantless Mike Pence Lookalike Is Raising Money For An LGBTQI Charity In Times Square
He's got our vote.
A New York man is making the most of his striking resemblance to Vice President-elect Mike Pence by walking pantless around Times Square collecting donations for progressive causes.
51-year-old Glen Pannell, who is openly gay, looks uncannily like Donald Trump’s number two man, a hardline conservative whose backward stances on issues like abortion (he’s against it), marriage equality (not a fan) and Syrian refugees (take a wild guess) have a lot of people understandably concerned.
“He was on my radar before the election not because he looked like me but because of his record,” Pannell told People.
The New Yorker first created the Mike Hot-Pence character as a Halloween costume, but decided to resurrect him in the wake of Trump’s shock win.
“I was really dejected after the election and spent a month as a prisoner of my Facebook feed,” said Pannell. “But then I decided to do something to make a difference and put my likeness to Pence to good use.”
Sporting a red tie, a navy suit jacket and a blue pair of short shorts, Pannell has so far raised money for Planned Parenthood and The Natural Resources Defense Council, and will be out and about again this weekend collecting funds for LGBTQI youth suicide prevention group The Trevor Project. Be sure to sling him a few bucks if you happen to be in NYC.
Asked by People if he had a message for the real Mike Pence, Pannell said he’d tell the incoming VP that “if you could walk a mile in my short shorts, you would meet so many people who are afraid and unsure about the next four years because they see rising hate speech in the last four weeks. You say you love this country, you say you have great faith in the American people. If that’s true, I’d say put your policy where your mouth is.”
