HBO Spain Accidentally Aired The Next Episode Of ‘Game Of Thrones’ And The Internet Is On Fire
Oh boy.
Call your loved ones, delete your social media, and throw anything that connects to the internet into the sea. It looks like the new episode of Game of Thrones has leaked five days early after HBO Spain just straight up aired the wrong episode.
Pictures and clips that claim to show the new episode playing on Spanish TV have hit Reddit, and fans are either screaming at each other to record and torrent the footage, or do the exact opposite of that. The full episode was reportedly online for an hour and, as of publication, all recordings subsequently posted on YouTube and Instagram have been deleted. Twitter, on the other hand… (SPOILERS).
An HBO rep told Insider they don’t yet know about any leak, but the news has been confirmed by fan site Watchers on the Wall and they’re warning people to tread carefully.

This obviously isn’t a new problem for HBO’s colossal flagship show. The first four seasons of Game of Thrones‘ fifth season famously leaked from a journalist’s review copy, and the fourth episode of season seven recently got out early from the show’s Indian distributor. Four people have since been arrested for allegedly sharing the latter episode online, and journos no longer receive the show ahead of time because of the former (cheers for that).
HBO has also recently been subject to a hack in which someone reportedly got their hands on thousands of internal documents, info for upcoming shows and an unaired Game of Thrones script. There’s no indication that today’s reported airing is linked to that, but it’s not a great turn of events either way.
Either someone’s breaking the law and ruining it for a bunch of people, or someone just made a mistake they’ll never live down for the rest of their life. We’ll update the story when we know more.
