No, ‘Game Of Thrones’ Didn’t Make Another Editing Error, Despite What People Are Saying
Then again, there are some pretty suspect shoes in one scene.
A week after fans spotted a Starbucks coffee cup in the background of Game of Thrones, the lead up to this week’s penultimate episode had fans worried that Season 8 — a series several years and many millions in the making — has made another gaffe. Not quite.
In this week’s bloody episode ‘The Bells’, Jamie reunites with Cersei, and gets the wish he’s always had by dying in her arms. She, assumedly, dies in his too — and, as per a promotional image shared on Sunday, in his two hands, too. The image was on HBO’s official site (via Newsweek), prompting a pre-emptive series of fans to joke that the whole season needed to a re-edit.
For those who are defending D&D after this episode, explain to me why Jaime's hand grew back…
THIS SEASON IS THE WORST EVER, IN EVERY WAY! NOW FUCK OFF @GameOfThrones @HBO pic.twitter.com/LnunDhIOfc

Now what? Jaime grew his hand ? How do start a petition to reshoot season8? #GameOfThrones pic.twitter.com/fvM63Iup3x

In case you need reminding, Jamie lost his right hand back in Season 3 and wears a gold prosthetic gifted from Cersei, which, by its shiny nature, catches the camera pretty often.
To be fair, post-production were probably a little too pre-occupied adding scorch marks and more gore to every scene to go through the promo shots. But Jamie’s hand is unmistakably golden throughout S8E5. You can see it in this scene, where Jamie uses it to do a ‘don’t you know who I am?’ to get through a crowd, and later, in the hugging scene this still is taken from.

“See???”

See? A shiny, creepy gold hand.
Much like the coffee cup, it seems that the hand was merely haunting us.
Still, the episode might have included one more error, with one Twitter user questioning whether a pair of Nikes made their way onto the battlefield. That one’s more difficult to determine, and the jury’s still out — it could just be the light making a soldier’s shoe look a little hypebeast-y.
To hand or not to hand that is the question? While we're on the talk about @GameOfThrones there is this one shoe or Nike on the battlefield cane we talk about this my Lord? @jimmyfallon pic.twitter.com/uNDQF59JaW

You can’t exactly blame audiences for not having faith in the show’s editing skills.
Last week, editors announced they would edit out the infamous coffee cup from the episode, while actors Liam Cunningham and Emilia Clarke have blamed each other for the error. And just the week previous, the show’s cinematographer defended the Battle Of Winterfell’s dark-lit scenes by saying the audience were wrong to complain, and he was right.
Meanwhile, the internet can’t decide how they feel about Danys’ character — maybe our weekly recap and (incredibly funny) Power Rankings will help you work some things out.
