The Real Winner Of The French Election Was Les Mémes Danque

And Emmanuel Macron, obviously.

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but that photoshoot of Emmanuel Macron baring his hairy chest for France won him the election, and that’s just a fact.

In case you missed it, the French President was re-elected over the weekend, after going head-to-head with noted far-right candidate Marine Le Pen, who also ran in 2012 and 2017. Nevertheless, she persisted, pulling just over 41 percent of the vote.

And yes, some people are calling this is a “welcome breather for world order”, but seemingly no one is prepared to acknowledge what’s really going on — that by relaxing in an open shirt, in a very normal way, Emmanuel Macron finally gave the people what they want.

Apparently, the photo was circulated in an attempt to court the country’s youth vote, and as we know, there’s nothing that says ‘young people’ like a 44-year-old man in an aggressively open shirt.

It wasn’t the photo that did it, the one of Macron in a hoodie definitely did, even though he was quickly accused of taking sartorial cues from his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky.

The point is, Le Pen has once again not been elected to the French presidency, and that’s something to be celebrated (briefly, before thinking about the fact that nearly half of French voters still cast their vote for a literal fascist), so here is a collection of our favourite Macron memes presently on the timeline.

Personally, I can’t get enough of this one.

But many people also enjoyed Macron’s giving ‘profound boredom’ during last week’s Presidential debate, with this caption translating to “when your Tinder date talks non-stop, and you know the evening is going to be long, long”.

Here’s another one suggesting that Macron might’ve been using Le Pen’s time to pen a shopping list.

Oh, and Jimmy Fallon did something, too. Sorry. Watch it at your own risk.
