Scumbag Senator Fraser Anning Has Been Slammed For His Response To The Christchurch Attack
Fraser Anning is a piece of shit.
Independent Queensland Senator Fraser Anning has been slammed for his appalling response to the Christchurch terror attack.
Within hours of the dual mosque shootings that left 49 people dead, Anning released a press release blaming the attack not on the alleged perpetrators but on Muslim immigration.
“The real cause of bloodshed on New Zealand streets today is the immigration program which allowed Muslim fanatics to migrate to New Zealand in the first place,” Anning said. “Let us be clear, while Muslims may have been the victims today, usually they are the perpetrators.”
Anning also issued a number of tweets on the subject, including one in which he asked whether people still disputed “the link between Muslim immigration and violence”.
The Senator’s comments were swiftly condemned. Prime Minister Scott Morrison called them “disgusting” and said they had “no place in Australia, let alone the Australian Parliament” — although given Morrison once reportedly encouraged his party to capitalise on anti-Muslim sentiment in the community in order to win votes, he’s hardly in a position to criticise.
The remarks by Senator Fraser Anning blaming the murderous attacks by a violent, right-wing, extremist terrorist in New Zealand on immigration are disgusting. Those views have no place in Australia, let alone the Australian Parliament.

A number of other politicians also hit out at Anning for his disgusting remarks.
While families in Christchurch mourn for loved ones they’ve lost, an obscure Australian Senator saw this act of terrorism and tragedy as an opportunity to blame the murder victims.

Fraser Anning’s comments today are contemptible. He is a disgrace to the Senate and what is worse by spreading hatred and turning Australians against each other he is doing exactly what the terrorists want.

Thank goodness for the leadership and compassion of @jacindaardern. It is a stark contrast to the hate and ignorance of Fraser Anning. A man of little intellect, or care. A man not fit to call himself Australian, let alone be in the Parliament.

Others on social media were even more direct.
people are dead you fucking gormless cunt

You disgusting withered old chode.

You’re a disgrace

Still others pointed out that the normalisation of right-wing extremism and Islamophobia in media and politics may very well have played a part in the attack.
Remember when Abbott gave tacit endorsement to Islamophobia?
When Govt Senators voted for neo-nazi “it’s okay to be white” motion?
When Hanson called for internment of Muslims on breakfast television?
But yeah, Fraser Anning is totally a lone wolf aberration in our politics. pic.twitter.com/T0qlYWgNMN

There are going to be a lot of people squirming over the next few days, pretending that mainstreaming white nationalism and the constant drumbeat of Islamophobia and racism in Australia has no relationship to what happened today. That’s just unbelievable, we should tell them so

I feel so sad. We begged you to stop amplifying and normalising hatred and racism. But you told us we were ‘politically correct’ and ‘freedom of speech’ was more important.
The more you gave the far-right a platform, the more powerful they got. We begged you.

If you as a producer, host, journalist or editor have been wilfully platforming the views of people like Milo, Jordan, Bolt and Southern, today you have blood on your hands.

Anning received just 19 votes in the 2016 election, but entered Parliament in 2017 as a replacement for One Nation Senator Malcolm Roberts, who was found to be ineligible. He swiftly abandoned One Nation and later took up with Bob Katter’s Australian Party, although he was eventually disowned by them too.
He made international headlines after he used his maiden address to Parliament to call for a “final solution” to Muslim immigration, and earlier this year was spotted hanging out at a rally of right-wing extremists.
