The Latest Wordle Spin-Off Will Test How Much Of A Movie Nerd You Are
Can you guess a movie from a single frame?
You’ve heard of Wordle, Taylordle, Lordle of the Rings, and Worldle — now get ready for Framed, the new Wordle variant for film fanatics.
The daily word game Wordle has taken the internet by storm. New versions of the game are popping up every week as game designers everywhere tap into humanity’s urge to guess things.
There’s Worldle, the geography variant where players have to guess the name of the unlabeled landmass. Nerdle is here for the maths nerds who want to guess maths equations. And lest we forget, Taylordle, for all the Swifties out there who want to test their lyric knowledge.
Now, there’s a new Wordle variant for movie geeks too. Framed is like Wordle, but instead of guessing a word, you have 6 attempts to guess the movie. The game shows you a screenshot from a film and with each guess it shows you another, more obvious, screenshot from the film until you guess correctly (or don’t).
Just like Wordle, Framed lets you share your score with a series of those trademark green squares to let the world know your movie recognition prowess. If you want a score to beat, I got today’s Framed on the 5th guess. Perhaps my movie nerd card should be revoked.
Framed also operates off a selected and limited bank of well-known films that are suggested as you type in your guess. So, you do not have to know every film in the universe to play (though it sure would be an advantage).
Like Wordle, Framed is a daily guessing game. Thus, users will have a new film to guess and share with friends every day. At the moment, Framed is available online for free. However, the designer has set up a Kofi if you would like to support the game’s maintenance and further development.
