Talking About These Foods In Your Dating Profile Will Get You More Dates
Finally! Our dating profiles don’t have to list hiking, or camping, or other outdoor things we absolutely don’t do. We can be true to ourselves and talk about our real passion: food.
Dating website Zoosk wanted to figure out just how much food and dating intersected. So they got down in the trenches and analysed a bunch of data from 3,733,185 dating profiles (woah!) and 364,609,566 first messages (double woah!). And they found that, yeah, food preferences are a big deal.
So, What Foods Should You Mention?
According to the data, mentioning guacamole, potatoes and chocolate increases the rate of people sliding into your DMs by 100 per cent. Interestingly, salad comes in at a close fourth, increasing your chances by 97 per cent. (Which seems like a lie because salad is the worst, but whatever.)
Saying you’re a “foodie” also makes you look shit-hot, upping your chances of getting messaged by 82 per cent. The stigma around vegetarians has seriously decreased too, scoring a 3 per cent increase in messages if you mention it in your profile. This is compared to 2015 when it would result in a 100 per cent decrease in chances. Onya, vegos!
Mention It In Your Profile, But Don’t Use It As The Actual Ice Breaker
While mentioning food in your profile is good for your chances, talking about it in your first message isn’t, making little to no difference on the rate of responses. So you might have to rack your brain for some other ice breaker.
Finally, if you wanted a first date food idea, a safe bet would be a seafood restaurant, with 19 per cent of people saying it was their number one preference.
