The First Teaser For Disney’s Live-Action ‘Aladdin’ Is Here, But Where The Hell Is Genie?
No sign of Will Smith as the man in blue.

Disney has dropped the first teaser for the live-action remade of Aladdin, but don’t expect to see Will Smith as Genie just yet.
The 90 second teaser gets a lot right, with stunning visuals and tantalising snippets of familiar music from the original (that arrangement of ‘You Ain’t Never Had A Friend Like Me’ sounds legitimately epic). We also get our first look at Mena Massoud as Aladdin, and I’m pretty sure that’s Iago flapping around up there too.
What we don’t get is any hint of Will Smith taking over from the late great Robin Williams as Genie.

Presumably we’ll have to wait for the full trailer for his take on the character. According to Variety, who have seen some early footage of his performance, Smith doesn’t imitate Williams, but instead injects Genie “with a little bit of the Fresh Prince and a little bit of Hitch”.
