Fetch The Bolt Cutters, Fiona Apple’s first album in seven years, was released last Friday to instant critical acclaim — an utterly idiosyncratic epic that will make you feel it all. And, because it’s 2020, we now collectively process those feelings via memes.

To be fair, there’s a lot to run with within the album: the title, for starters, is practically beginning to be included in the ‘My Knives? Out. My Gems? Uncut’ canon.

It’s also, of course, a perfectly timed battle-cry for right now, given we’re all a little stir-crazy within isolation.

‘Shameika’, a song about a girl telling a young Apple she “had potential” on the playground, is also ripe for memes.

Elsewhere, people are riffing off the dog barking sounds in ‘Fetch The Bolt Cutters’ — the album was recorded entirely in Apple’s home on Garageband, and so often includes background sounds.
