No One Ships ‘Euphoria’ Couple Fexi More Than Angus Cloud

Fez and Lexi are the slow burn relationship 'Euphoria' deserves.

Beyond the chaos of Rue’s relapse, the Cassie versus Maddie showdown, and Jules cheating on her girlfriend — Euphoria fans are clinging onto the budding relationship blossoming between Fez and Lexi, lovingly dubbed ‘Fexi’.

The Rise Of Fexi

The series return from a two-year hiatus saw the duo from two different walks of life bond at a house party. Drug dealer Fezco strikes up a conversation with suburban wallflower Lexi on a couch — both feeling a little out of place among their peers on New Years Eve. They get to know each other, flirting here and there, philosophising about the world, and exchanging numbers.

“Lexi thought about that night a lot,” said Rue in a voiceover. “She couldn’t remember the last time someone her age asked her so many questions about herself. He actually cared about what she had to say”.

In Season 2, Episode 2, Lexi plucks up the courage to see him again, filled with teenage hope and giddiness. Like two ships in the night, they both misread each other’s cues, and before they have a chance to land on the same page, they’re interrupted by Cal who tries to intimidate Fez for beating up his son Nate at the NYE shindig.

Lexi kind of just stands there watching, despite vowing to herself that she’d pluck up more courage in life instead of letting people walk all over her and those she loves.

Stand By Me

Episode six gave us a sprinkle more crumbs of the only wholesome thing to come out of Season 2 so far. ‘A Thousand Little Trees of Blood’ sees an impromptu date between the two lovebirds! Seeking advice on her explosive upcoming school production, the pair slap on Fez’s favourite movie Stand by Me.

It’s no Netflix and chill, but it is the sweet Valentine’s Day content we deserve. Lexi admits that she cries every time at the end of the film, and they both gently sing along with Ben E. King’s titular classic as it plays at the end. Fez reaches his hand over to Lexi’s with a gentle caress.

The high school sweetheart hopefuls exude the same energy as lovers in a Korean drama — where the audience clings onto their seats at the prospect of a first kiss strung out over many episodes, or even seasons.

Mr Angus Cloud

Angus Cloud, the actor who plays Fez, has been on the Fexi train the whole time. Having taken a liking to live-tweeting every episode, Cloud has made his thoughts on the pair very clear.

“Fexi,” he succinctly tweeted on January 28.  “We need more Fexi content, give the fans what they want,” he tweeted a week later. Cloud has also been going around hitting like on Fexi fan thoughts like its 2014 on Tumblr.

On The Next ‘Euphoria’

A trailer for Episode 7 promises more juicy Fexi content, showing Fez delivering a bouquet of flowers on opening night of Lexi’s play, while all dressed up in a suit. And they say romance is dead!

“Of course imma be there,” he says in a phone call voiceover. “Imma be sitting in the front row shawty!” The camera rolls to an empty seat in the auditorium — perhaps a tease, or a hint that shit might actually go down with the cops, who are sniffing around the death of a crook named Mouse who was killed by Fez’s younger brother Ashtray.

The fan-favourite couple definitely have more in store for us this season. Hopefully happy things, and not sad ‘Euphoria’ things.
